Bug Club
Bug Club books are assigned each half term and supplement our Monster Phonics Scheme. Teachers carefully select the level your child is working at when they assign these books.
At home children can gain rewards as they read the books and carry out phonics activities. Your child’s class teacher will also be able monitor your child’s progress. This also allows you to see the books children are reading in school and the phonics we are focusing on. We will send out a slip each week for you to indicate your child has read with you daily. This will need to be returned to school every Monday morning.
Getting Started
To get started simply log on to the Active Learn website. Your child's class teacher will have given you your child's login information.
Please remember your child’s login details are confidential and should not be shared with others.
When you first enter the website take some time to read the Parent’s Help Page. Your child can choose their own bug on this page too!
How to Access the E Books
Please note: the books that are allocated may be books that can be shared with an adult or read independently at home depending on your child’s confidence levels.
We recommend you do the following each time there is a new book:
- Select a book
- Read the guide (This will tell you the learning focus of the book)
- Share the book – your child may wish to read independently but may also require support (they should try the phonics words but may need help with sight words)
- Click on the Bug icon(s) to enjoy activities connected with the book and gain rewards
- Read the follow up activities ideas to share with your child
The book can be read as many times as you like!
